Drove Peej on errands this morn. Went great. Still no mirror vibrations. I'M JUST SO SO FREAKIN' EXCITED ABOUT THAT!!!!! Bit hot though. Only 87° (supposedly) but also humid. I was rather sticky taking off my gear. Eww. Meanwhile, I found out that although Hy-Vee has crapanol-free Premium, they also have single-nozzle pumps. So not truly crap-free, is it. Filled up anyways. Stopped at AutoZone and got a new bottle of Star-enzyme. Now I'm all set to drive to work...after this week, because I have stuff every single day right after work. Sigh. >'Kat Kat, Back in the day, if my mirrors weren't a complete blur, I knew my engine had stopped... LOL! Sounds like Peej is in his prime! The older I get, the more I appreciate simple pleasures like just using the scoot for errands. My old Mercury wagon finally and terminally died last week after 27 years and 420K happy miles. The computer went and a fix would cost way more than the car was worth. So I gave it to the guys in the park. Her old 5.0 motor (still strong and didn't use a drop of oil) and tranny will surely find their way into some old boy's Ford pickup, along with the factory Italian alloy wheels, good whitewall tires, stereo, leather seats, etc. The old car will live on for decades through donated parts for other old cars and trucks, but I'm really going to miss that old tank. You really DO get attached to a faithful old friend like that.
My ' Honda Accord is like a sardine compared to the old Merc, so I can't haul furniture and stuff like I used to. It's been staying right near 100 degrees here for a couple of weeks and I found it is much more enjoyable to use the scooter at night. Down to low 80's, no wind and absolutely great riding! On that note, the LED driving lights I added are real "life-savers" and make night riding far safer and more enjoyable. No problems yet with them using too much juice and running down the battery... and, mounted low, they don't seem to bother oncoming traffic, yet light up the road for a football-field! I think I'm safe in recommending them for any rider who rides much at night. Ride safe, stay cool!Leo

Hey Jerry, thanks for the excellent suggestion. I'll keep that in mind for driving home. Going, shouldn't be so bad yet.

Storing your gear in a cooler location in your house can make a big difference. Some might be surprised at what moving it from the side of the closet closest to an outside wall to the innermost part can do. Whatever you do, don't leave your helmet or riding jacket out in a hot stale garage since you will be starting off your ride in misery.
When shopping take your helmet inside with your since it will be like putting your head in an oven from sitting outside on a hot day.
In the office I leave mine on top of a cabinet under an air conditioning vent so it and my gear is nice and cool when I put it on before stepping outside.
Many get overheated because they take their nice cold gear outside and get all overheated putting it on in a sweltering garage or outside in the hot sun. Get the bike ready to ride before you gear up and then after freshening up put your gear on in air conditioned comfort and walk out to your bike that is ready for you to start up and ride away.

I'll admit, rocky, that I'm guilty of gearing up then getting Peej ready. Esp at work--I put on my pants/boots/jacket (left open), then take my stuff out and uncover/unlock Peej, put everything away, zip up/helmet on (but open)/gloves on, then start up check all lights close helmet and drive off. But honestly it hasn't seemed all that stifling doing it like this. And it's not real convenient to go ready Peej in front of the next store, then go back inside mine and get me all ready, meanwhile leaving Peej unlocked and unattended. Although I'll grant that Panera's IS a very busy place, so chances are slim anyone will screw in the 10? minutes I'm not there. But still....

Don't forget to check your fuel level! I ran out of gas today on the freeway, had to push my scooter 3/4 mile to the next exit, with temps in the 90s at 6:30am. Just love arriving at work soaked in sweat!

I am spoiled since I park in the company garage at work and my own garage at home. Still when you start off from home with cold gear it just makes the whole day go better. To ride home I just toss on my cold gear and jump on the bike parked in the garage under the security camera, start it up and go.

Jerry, I feel for you. My '78 Olds died on me once (not out of gas--my Dad told me never never EVER let your car run out of gas 'cause it screws up the whole engine) at the end of our driveway. Actually, butt in the street. I tried pushing him over the bit of hump at the end and completely onto the drive. No way was that happening. Ended up pushing him into the field across the street 'cause that was slightly downhill. Ditto with a cop when Olds died at an intersection--I thought the cop was gonna burst his heart trying to push! Do you get in trouble if a cop kills himself pushing your car? I've lifted Peej twice now (hard) (although the once, Mom thinks she lifted him off me and saved me--I shall never tell her otherwise as doing so serves absolutely zero purpose except saddening her). And gotten him on the center stand, but only with Mom or bro's help. I can NOT begin to imagine trying to push him anywhere! Luckily he has a .4 gallon reserve that triggers a low-gas indicator, so I shouldn't ever run out of gas on him. Not unless I'm mightily unobservant. Did you at least get due sympathy from your coworkers? >'Kat

Btb rocky, some of us have to actually lock up our scoots to deter mischief. Which is about all that my locks will deter as I use my old bicycle cable. I do have some crazy-heavy very short cable--chain?--forget what 'cause it's very VERY short and I've never used it. I trust the vasty business of this particular Panera's to keep real thieves from thieving. And some of us have to actually cover up our scoots with a motorcycle cover to deter the landlord from getting pissy about parking on the sidewalk's edge. See, I park right next to the handicapped sign, which I lock my chain (snicker) to. Panera's doesn't mind as it doesn't impede their customers, and the handicapped don't mind as it again doesn't impede them (the ramp is off to the side). But if Rubenstein knew that Peej isn't a tiny little scooty-scoot under there but a full-sized motorcycle per KS law, they'd have a stinky hissy fit and make me park in a car spot. Meaning no locking, and a big likelihood of someone slamming into Peej as they whip their car into his spot, never mind I would park at the back so he'd be visible between parked SUVs. My goodness, having described all that, I realize you are so VERY VERY!!! spoiled!! >'Kat
