OK, So I purchased this 2010 DF150TKA DongFang (Dong Fang Suny NING 150cc) REVERSE TRIKE from a guy who had it torn apart in pieces because it wouldn't start. NO SPARK. Cranks fine but no spark at spark plug. He gave me two different CDI boxes but claimed that it just quit running one day while driving it. Figured it was a loose ground. I thought what the , I'll tinker with it and see if I can get it going. My only problem is that I don't know which parts are the originals and if they are even a problem. I went through all the wiring and have everything connected but can't get a spark for anything. I'm thinking it's the stator. At this point I'm even willing to just purchase a new CDI, Coil, Stator and Regulator but I'm not sure where the best place to get the parts would be and I'd like to make sure and get the right ones. I've called the Suny dealership, no luck and have also emailed them without a response. If anyone has one of these, could you share any pics of the wiring to the CDI (he may have mis-wired it jacking around) and any of the original part numbers, etc? I can't find any documentation online either other than 2014 parts catalogs, etc. Thanks in advance for your help. I'll do my best to shoot some pics of all of the components and see how it compares to anyone who may have one.
Thank you. J-Ro

2-PIN: Top: Black/White Bottom: Red/Black

Welcome to the boards! Before you start throwing money away on parts you may not need to replace, check them to see if they are working. Here is one section of our video library that may help, there are others more specific as you go along: itistheride.boards.net/board/65/electricalIt only takes 5 minutes to check the entire system, 10-15 minutes the first time since you will be hunting for the proper points to place your meter's probes.

I checked out the stator wires...I was getting a reading from the black/red wire but not from the blue/white wire so that tells me that it's a bad pick-up coil. Can someone else confirm that?
Also...can someone explain to me the difference between AC and DC volts? How is it that an electrical system can have both types of readings?
Thanks in advance. I always appreciate the education. J-Ro

This video here is a pretty good "NO SPARK" tutorial:

Also, can someone verify that this wiring is always the same for the CDI? Because if that's that case, the guy that I got it from must have tinkered with the wiring as the pickup coil wire and a ground wire are swapped on the far left side...

J-Ro The stator puts out AC voltage, which is then rectified to DC voltage by the R/R (regulator/rectifier). The CDI can be either AC or DC, best to post a pic of yours here so someone can confirm which you have. Hopefully JoeyBee (that's his video you posted) and tvnacman (a CDI expert and trusted vendor) or some others can answer your wiring questions, I'm not as familiar with the exact wiring schemes as they are.

This was how the wiring went into the CDI. Here's the issue though... If he had the wires incorrect, then is it possible that the CDI could have been damaged?

The pulse coil is a very low voltage, and will only produce a voltage while the engine is cranking. .3vac-2.5vac
I have worked on this style trike it had dc cdi. Check the red/black wire on the cdi for 12vdc when kill switch is in the run position and the key in the run position.

Is there any chance that somebody might have a parts list for this model? Or can someone let me know which STATOR this model has? I don't have the tool to take the flywheel off to look at the stator but will order one when I order a new stator.
2010 DF150TKA DongFang
I want to just order the CDI (DC pulse) and the Stator but would like a North American provider for shipping purposes.

John is my go to guy for CDIs and stators, very knowledgeable, and he has worked on your model, and he tests most parts before shipping! I would recommend his advancing angle CDI, several of us on this board swear by them.

open the fan cover, measure the diameter and show me a picture of the plug with the wires.

Also can someone confirm that my CDI is a DC and my stator is AC? (seems crazy to me)
Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know someone who has one of these?
