Fine Paladin, so there's a couple movies with oatmeal in the title. Still no comparison-- "Bowl of Oatmeal" "True Grit" Still gotta' vote Duke over...I'm sorry, does anyone even know any of those oatmeal stars?  |

JR, no mayo. Yick. And for real, no bbq sauce either.
Hm. Think I'll micro up some brown sugar oatmeal for breakfast this morn. That sounds really really good!

OK, I jus' gotta go with GRITS...
I never got into a fight over OATMEAL... But while on KP at Fort Bragg, I got SO tired of brain-dead troops eyeing the oatmeal, scratching their heads and grumbling "Hey, boy, is them GRITS?"I finally lost it completely after around 20 such inquiries, and in my best Deep South accent told the guy "NO... Them's NOT grits, THEM is OATMEAL, you Red-Neck Peckerwood...".
That did it... A "John Wayne" style brawl erupted in the mess-hall... LOL! Ouch! My jaw still hurts from that one on damp days...
Now admittedly, "political correctness" had not yet been conceived in 1968, Ethnic/racial slurs were part of everyday conversation... AND, I consider myself pretty much a self-styled Red-Neck "Cracker" anyway... So I didn't see any reason for my Peckerwood Peer to take offense... Nope! None at all...
But he did. Along with a couple dozen of his pals... 
And THAT makes me think them GRITS is more macho than OATMEAL.Yup!

Gotta remember another thing grits is a breakfast meal and great with supper too! Oatmeal breakfast only so grits has got to be more mucho.  JR |

Try oatmeal with a shot of salt and pepper, no milk!
That's the way my grandpa used to eat it.
It's pretty good!

Also, if you don't like the "slimyness" of oatmeal, try the steel cut, they are completely different.
