What you are describing does not sound like an engine issue. It sounds like a CVT issue. Check the variator nut, and I wonder how many miles are on that belt?

i think the belt maybe jumping the edge of a pulley John. Do you have any idea how this might be fixed, its causes, etc? This answer in particular makes the most sense, as a defect somewhere possibly could lead to an exact belt jump somewhere. If not the belt, perhaps something else. This could lead to a solution (my bike is still borked).
