Spandi,
Good find! Have a bone on the old chopper guy...
Over 74 mph top-speed: MUCH better... And about 19 hp. Same as my old carbureted Grandvista. Good size wheels, very HEAVY but still much more appealing than the video indicated, and IT was very positive.
Only negatives I really see is a drum rear brake, and still no fuel-injection (but this post is for a 2010 model) and new ones may be more updated.
Still, a lot of money. Lots of options in that price range.

Thanks Leo, and yes the newer model does indeed come with fuel injection. (probably making it even faster)

Wow... Dang clever, them Chinese!
The NAME is still the coolest aspect of THIS ride... " Kinky Grandpas"... Sounds like the posse down at my Missus' cardiac rehab gym... When a 70-year-old granny under 300 pounds shows up, all the blood-pressure monitors ring alarms... LOLOLOL! What a bunch of geriatric old horn-dogs... Cheesh!
I'd surely be unhappy though, if after plunking down more money than a good Italian scoot might cost, old "Kinky" provided more wrenching than riding time...
Ride safe!

The original link is for the current years run of them. New pollution regs have created a slight drop in HP and such which is why the major manufacturers bumped from 250 to 300cc. Interesting that the 2010 model was 13.7 kw/18.77 hp while the 2015/2016 is only 13.0 kw/17.4 hp.

Then if the power output is so slight, it just reinforces the supposition that the stated speed on the video was indeed "conservative" and not indicative of actual "real world" performance. (if all else fails just buy a 2010 model) BTW, if I remember correctly the video was for Australia, which may go by the more stringent European standards for pollution control.

By comparison the 2009/2010 Piaggio 250c engines put out over 25% more hp and have the potential for better fuel economy. When you buy a lightly used BV250, Sport City 250 or Scarabeo 250 you get 25% to 30% more usable HP on bikes that weigh about 75lbs less than the Grandpas and have almost 150 lbs greater carrying capacity. Then there are the brakes to consider too which the Sport City 250 has the rest beat on since it has the same twin disc front brakes that are used on up to 750 cc bikes weighing much more. If you get them to go faster then you need to make them stop better too.
That is where we start getting into the balance between economy and value.
