Fist bump looks more aggressive, high five is used by both genders, I have yet to see a woman doing the fist bump  |

High 5; open handed like a friendly wave showing you have no weapon and making contact to confirm that.
Fist bump; Fist clenched (already an aggressive gesture) as if holding a spear or sword and bumping it up against another as if sizing up the opposition. Much more macho IMO.

If you initiate a high five and the other dude doesn't respond, you look pretty dumb.
If you initiate a fist bump and the other dude doesn't respond, you can act like you just wanted to spar a bit.

How about the rump-swat instead? And just where did that get started anyways? What guy first thought, "Say, I'll swat my teammate's rear 'cause he just made such an awesome play, I'm sure he won't take it any other way than that."?
ricardo, you need to come visit me sometime. I fist-bump girlfriends often. Heck, I even fist-bumped with Mom once, and she knew what to do without me needing to coach her or anything.
Or maybe it's a Kansas-girl thing?
