I have been looking at replacing the carburetor on my Daelim sj50 or E-Five because my stock carb is both getting old and difficult to upgrade when the time comes to adjust to a performance exhaust, and eventually a big bore kit...
The thing is, I haven't found any information on compatibility when I look at carb options... My stock carb doesn't give me a size to judge from and most carburetors I find seem to give sizes in mms to judge by...
Can most any carb be used? How would I find out which sort would be the best for my bike?? The cost of importing the same old stock carburetor, with its restricted capacity is very near the costs I have seen for carb alternatives... and having a good selection of jet sizes on-hand will make tuning it in future So Much Easier!! Thanks!

From what I have found, the Arreche carbs seem to be most similar to the stock Daelim's... perhaps 17.5 size?? The Gurtner jets seem to be the closest thing I have found to the form of the stock jets in my E-Five... but, I cannot know for sure until I order them and see... it would be nice if they would offer a few measurements but, as long as they are 5mm diameter, they should work!! I have read that they recommend #72 jets for the performance setup bike, but I can find No Help guessing the size best suited to the bike with a Tecnigas Silent Pro exhaust upgrade... it may be near the #72 mark though... I just wish I had some idea what the stock size was!! Still no luck on a manifold (and reed valves) the service manual shows the mounting screws in an arrangement I have not found so far - of all the stupid proprietary BS moves to limit part compatibility!!! I think the Arreche claims to be theoretically compatible with the stock, but I do not think I believe that just yet...

Ok, so, odd thing I noticed the other day: I finally got hold of a complete parts list for the S-Five the other day (an E-Five more or less) and I noticed that they listed the main jets as a #75 and # ... They often list two options for parts, euro and US I think, but the 'upgrade' data I have was recommending "moving up to" a #72 !?! They could totally be wrong (though I think the parts list is right) but if # is still somewhat 'stock' then I will need to go up from there, I should think... ?? What sorts of jet sizes are common in a 50cc with an upgraded exhaust?? I am specifically driving a Daelim E-Five with a tecnigas silent pro... Suddenly, I am thinking I will need to get even Bigger jets on the way!!
