So I am a auto tech major and have 2 years left for my Bachelors of science degree. I am without transportation at the moment and for some reason over the past few years keep being drawn back to scooters I think because I like to modify things and scooters are much cheaper then cars. So in the next year I will be in the market for a scooter that I will love a mod till I am again out of money. recommendations on first scoot anyone (keeping in mind I am a big boy somewhere in the 300lb range) I like the after market of the GY6 but there is also a good selection of liquid cooled 250cc scooters out there so in the completely theoretical department where would everyone stand on my first one? noting that no matter how stupid I look I will use it every day to go a few miles to school and use it at the 1/8 mile drag strip.

If you can find a 250cc Kymco at a good price, go for it!

The 250 and up aftermarket is slim compared to GY6 150 right now, if you want to tinker. But yeah there are lots of used out there, I see the 300's stay on C/L for a long time because nobody wants to pay the 2200 for them, even tho that's a steal for a scooter with very low miles.

I think one of the larger scoots should be in your sights,,not only for the larger frame because you have a larger frame,,,but the power can't be matched with a 150 gy6,,,,

thanks everyone! like all the responses. I will keep my eye open for a bigger one then. I see one right now in my area that's a 250cc with less then 3k miles for $1,000 but alias I am broke.
