I think you guys are spinning your wheels and waiting a long time. Slow boat from china while a scooter is down. You can get regulators here in the states. How cheap is this regulator coming by slow boat.

This regulator is for a project scooter that I just enjoy tinkering on to eventually become a daily ride. Not in some all-fired hurry. Of course, there are some circumstances where I need a part fast, but this is not one of them.

some rely on there scooters for transportation and is there only form of transportation. I have spent some time tinkering with stators and regulators. I have a few different types too.

Yes! I used one like that as well. It saves a lot of wiring too. The tricky part is the regulator. If you tackle making the regulator part, be sure to use the PNP transistors, not the NPN type. That way the transistor cases and heat sink are electrically negative and don't present electrical isolation issues. Power JFETs have the same issues, but I'm not sure if you want the N channel or P channel ones. I didn't spend much time with them. It was a nice winter learning project for me, and I got a lot of friendly ribbing about it from my friends too when it was done.
