I can ride it for a short or long while and if I let it sit and idle for a quick minute and I hit throttle it dies what is causing it to die I'm guessing something is causing it to flood I just got the scoot running it had been left abandoned so has t been tuned in a while I just finally got it to start today

Play with the air/fuel screw. turn it right and left, until it starts idling as high as it will with that screw. Then, turn the idle screw down to mellow it out. If it still stalls, you are probably running lean, or rich.

Clean the carb, if the issue is still there then adjust the accelerator pump on the carb.
