Been awhile since I've been on here, a year and a half to be exact. I have 2 motors. A regular GY6 157qmj and gy6-B with the 16" back wheel. The starter clutch in the GY6 is shot. I already know most of the parts are not interchangeable. But haven't heard anything about the starter clutch. My question is Does anyone know if you can use a starter clutch from a GY6B with the 16" back wheel on a regular GY6 with the 12" back wheel? Im trying to save time and gaskets from tearing both motors apart to find out. And save money on buying a starter clutch if I can use it Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Daniel

tvnacman may know. He has a 16" scooter, and is one of our trusted vendors.

Gonna crack cases tomorrow and give it a shot. I'll post the results.

Not to change topic but is it possible at all to use the jug and head from a regular gy6 on a gy6b? Everything seems to fit good. Would the cam chain be too long? Could I just switch cam chains?

So 60teeth for regular gy6 starter clutch, and 50 teeth for a gy6b? I found a 50 tooth for a regular gy6. Switching starter clutches might be my only hope of having a running scoot...

The spacing is different on the two motors. Even the head gaskets don't match up. I could probably make it fit without the sleeves on the head bolts but I'm not trying to make a death trap

I think you need to get in there and see what you have then go from there. Making mods to what you have can get tricky and frustrating.

The starter clutches look to be the same. I'm gonna try and swap them. What is it that goes bad on a starter clutch to make the starter grind? Everything seems functional to me...
