Unfortunately Piaggio will only be sending the US scooters over 50cc in their Vespa or Piaggio brands. Aprilia is now restricted to just a non Piaggio 50cc 4 stroke. The Aprilia powered Direct Injection 50cc Two Strokes capable of 50+ mph are not allowed at all anymore and anything above are only being allowed in Vespa or Piaggio with the largest being the BV350. Some dealerships have dropped the Aprilia brand altogether due to this. Their Gilera and Derby brands I do not believe will be seeing any US distribution. Why are they "not allowed"? Tell us more about it, please!

I bet it's a hoot to ride.......but at 518 pounds dry (probably more like 540 or 550 pounds ready to ride), it's a bit chubby to be a scooter in my mind. That's the thing I like about them. They are changing the way people look at scooters! HEFTY HEFTY HEFTY! not WIMPY WIMPY WIMPY! HAHAHA!

Tell us more about it, please! Not sure why Piaggio does what they do but although Aprilia has some great bikes Piaggio is holding them back from US distribution. They also appear to be relagating Aprilia Dealers to second rate support to so many are getting frustrated and jumping ship at this point. Possibly they will eventually not allow their Aprilia division to sell any scooters in the USA to protect their own Piaggio BV and Vespa sales numbers. When they closed out the Aprilia Sport City 250 at $2,999 and Scarabeo 500 for $3,999 they saw a big drop in BV 250 and BV 500 sales along with Vespa 250 sales numbers drop since people were going with Apilia for thousands less and found that the Aprilia designs with their own fuel mappings Aprilia tweaks provided noticably greater performance. Piaggio has been rumored to be in talks to sell off Aprilia altogether however only time will tell what situation will finally manifest itself.
