Ive been having acceleration issues lately and think it might have something to do with the clutch. It only happens when I try to accelerate from a dead stop. I could go WOT and and it just starts going really slowly for a few seconds or so and then its back up to regular speed. I checked the valve gaps and they were fine. I was thinking maybe fuel starvation? and then I thought maybe variator or clutch when i looked at the belt i noticed it was kind of in the clutch not really riding near the top. Is that how it is supposed to be? I took these pictures while it was idling.

All the clutches I've seen idling ride near the top of the ramps. It doesn't look like it's functioning properly, usually at idle the belt is low in the variator ramps and high in the clutch ramps. But your variator also looks funny, the belt is not low in it... Hmm... Check the weights? Does it rattle?

I was thinking about checking the variator but i didnt want to disturb anything if i didnt have to. the last time i looked in there when i changed the belt the rollers were a little worn that wasnt too long ago ill check again though. Maybe I need heavier or newer weights?

Maybe I need heavier or newer weights? Check to see how worn they are now, I check mine every couple months. If there are any flat spots replace the set, if you don't they can make everything act funny. How easily can you separate the ramps on the clutch with your hand when it if off the scooter? If it is very easily opened then it has worn out springs.

I have 3 clutches and 1 of them for sure eats belts its almost impossible to open. another i think might work but it doesnt feel right like it will open straight backwards and close right away but i see a washer or a ring of some type loose in there riding the axle or whatever. And the one thats on there now opens sort of easily and rotates somewhat while it opens but i think it gets stuck open so maybe i just need to replace the springs?

It seems like the problem was in the variator all the rollers were worn some more than others one of them was so bad it was getting stuck on the ramp plate and jamming it all up so it couldnt move.

John I've been reading a LOT of older posts here, many of them trail off with no resolution to the issue. There's a lot of people still asking for help getting their scooter started from two years ago. Maybe if a post is irrelevant, (had no solution or participation) it could get deleted? Having so many issue's resolved here is a great. But needs some cleaning up.

A common practice in many forums is for the OP to edit the title to include [Resolved] at the end of a successful repair.
