I had the belt brake on me already 3 times in like 3k miles. The last time it broke I replaced everything but the variator, see first post, including clutch. only thing I did not replace was the variator. First belt broke after installing variator. I am not sure if it is the variator and perhaps it is just a coincidence, but my belt broke after installing the variator and I replaced everything since but the variator so I will give that a try. I agree. When the variator wears the boss bushing out a bit, I think it wobbles and shreds the belt. I just saw the picture of the variator though, and it looks like it has spun on the belt as others have said, but you said you have a new clutch, right?

Did you buy the Hoca from Parts for Scooters too? If so call Matt and ask him for assistance. If it shipped with the wrong boss he will take good care of you. The inner face slides freely on the boss and is driven by the guides on the ram plate engaging with the tabs on the back of the inner drive face. If these are aligned then the rollers will engage properly and there should be no problems from the variator.

Hi All, I figure while I wait for the new variator to come in I would open her up and try to fix the kick start since I have never been able to use it. So I put the kickstart lever on and with my hand I try to rotate to see what is going on and I grease a couple of the gears. I try to move it again and the whole things falls out.... Now I do not care for it since I never been able to use it anyway but can it stay out or I need it for the variator to work? I cant see or understand why not, but i figures i would ask the experts. I removed both of the shaft since one fell out... and with both shaft out... I think it looks much better like this IMO, just want to make sure it works with no issues

I put a piece of duct tape over the inside of the shaft hole to keep out water and dirt.

Thanks, so you removed both shafts between the variator and clutch? from this: to this: it is safe, correct? I'll have to cover the hole too, but not sure about duck tape... lol, maybe I'll make a cap using an old wine cap or something

Couldn't you cover the hole by using a rubber or nylon washer or 2 + a metal washer and a small bolt close to the size of the hole and secure it with a nyloc nut? That way no tape to fall off and nothing could get in past it. (nyloc nut has a nylon insert to prevent the nut from backing off) I would not use just one nut unless it was a nyloc. Otherwise using 2 nuts would probably do. 1 nut + another as a jam nut to safety it.

Yep. Just pray your battery never leaves you stranded. I would have kept my kick starter, but the teeth on the end of the shaft were stripped and I didn't want to pay for a new one at the time.

I will just have to get it jumped started... I always care a screw driver with me so I will have access to the battery, but yeah I hope it does not leave me stranded...

I just found out that I have a BN157QMJ with 10" wheels. Does anyone know if the NCY variator or DR Pulley variator is a direct bolt on on this type of engine or I must use stock?
