Hello, Im having a problem with a two stroke honda. It runs fine till i put the airbox on. Then it runs half throttle with no pulling power. Ive tried running it with no muffler, same thing. Cleaned the carb, same thing, ran it with the gas tank cap off , same thing. Take off the airbox an it scoots good. Airbox off 32mph. Airbox on 22mph. Any ideals? thx

Having researched the 87 SE50P i have, i came to find that the Elite is a 4 stroke... Except for the SE Elite which sold only in 87 in America (let me tell you, finding replacement body panels is impossible). Assuming its one of those, now things get fun. In America there's three versions, the regular SE, the SE P (moped, 30MPH restricted), the SE 50 Iowa (25MPH moped restriction). See where we're going? IIRC the Iowa has a restricted air box, it and the P have a restrictor on the exhaust, and they both have restrictors in the trans as well, along with a smaller carb jet. Download the service manual if you haven't, it'll help. |

this is an elite e maybe 87, not really sure, ive found no restrictions on it so far. it runs 32 with the airbox off. Where do I download a manual for it? Thx for the reply by the way.

Im wondering if I need to pull the head off an decarbon it or something. It only has 2400 miles on it though.

Ok the air filter is not in it. Its nothing more than a single piece of foam though

Here you go, info about the Honda SE 50 including a link to the manual. And here's info about the restrictions Hmmm, after doing more research, i'm going to have to admit that you might be right about the year. Apparently they did make a 2 stroke Elite for longer, initially with the same AF505E motor in mine, then later the Dio's AF 16E motor after 1993. So, yours might be an SA50 but there's a manual for that there too. |
