I'm not sure if Iron Pony Motorsports does much with scooters and parts, but if you need gear they sure do knock themselves out for customer service! I bought a close-out Fieldsheer Alpina ladies white leather jacket from them, at least 3, 4 years ago. No, probably more than 5 years ago now. I of course tried it on right away to make sure it fit. And to take some pics to send my best friend. (and yes, it's SO cute! ) Then it being July, I put it away. That ? next ? --some following fall, I took it out thinking to wear it, and found it was missing the armor from the right elbow. Called IP and they sent out one right away. Then I did the workman's comp thing on my knee, and didn't scoot for almost two years. And the jacket sat in the closet's back for more than two years. Early this May, I thought I should get out the jacket and see about breaking in the leather so it would't be so stiff when I could actually wear it. Now, like most other things scooty-related, I have no idea how to break in a jacket, at least not properly. What I figured was to sleep with the jacket like it's a body pillow. But I didn't want to crunch up the armor, so I removed it. And found out that the left elbow and shoulder armor both were broken into several pieces. Seriously?! What the heck!! I immediately searched for Fieldsheer's contact info. There is none except an online "Contact Us" option. So I did that, explaining that while I understand the jacket is out of warranty, it also has never actually been worn and the armor came broken. No reply. I waited 'til about the end of May and recontacted FS--no response. I contacted them again last week, this time also saying how I've contacted them three times now about this and haven't heard back yet. Yep, nothing again. So I called Iron Pony hoping they would have a phone number for someone at Fieldsheer. Didn't know who to speak with, so went with the lady in Purchasing since I figured she would be one who had contact with their suppliers. Instead of finding FS's phone number for me, SHE CALLED THEM HERSELF! Would put me on hold (after asking permission), then would come back to confirm info (after apologizing for leaving me on hold), then hold to talk with FS again. Back and forth until she resolved my situation. Sadly, FS no longer have shoulder armor small enough to fit in my jacket, they don't even have any backstock left (it's been that long ago I got the jacket, I guess). But they're sending out replacement elbow armor. THIS is what customer service is, folks. Employees who go outside their job description to help a customer who bought one sale item from them years ago. I figure the least I can do in return is tell my story here on the forum and spread the word about what good folk work at the Iron Pony Motorsports. >'Kat

Nice story Kat, but not very good service from Fieldsheer who normally have a good reputation, a simple reply saying it was out of production would have been nice.

Yeah fly', I was a bit bummed about FS's silence. I mean, I didn't really count on much support seeing as it has been a few years. I was prepared to argue my case. But complete ignoring was not what I expected from such a big-name company.

Glad to hear it, 'Kat. I think customer service is one of the hardest jobs in the world, so I really remember the the companies that do a good job of providing it.

So here's the update. End of last week, I got this surprisingly big box for what should contain an elbow foamy-rubber armor piece.
Because that's not what it contained. Inside was a set of Armadillo elbow guards. In L/XL no less.
Okay, obviously either the FS rep didn't understand what I was talking about, or more likely someone in shipping mixed up mine with some big man's order.
I called the Iron Pony lady again today. She explained that's what she and the FS rep came up with, 'cause FS doesn't have armor inserts small enough anymore for my jacket's armor pockets. Which on the one hand is good, means FS has beefed up the armor in their jackets. On the other hand is bad for me.
I dunno how the Armadillo sleeves will work out. Esp since they're sized huge for man-arms. But it's really really nice of FS to send me the set so I can at least try to make them work out. They very easily could've said "It's been years out of warranty besides that we don't have anything to fit anymore, too bad we're sorry go away now." Instead they said "Let's send her something that she might be able to make work." Pretty decent of them. So despite the lack of response to my online contact, FS has def' come through in trying to help me. And Iron Pony, they are tops in my book. I wish they were local instead of half a country away.
I told the lady today that I've praised them here. But if any of you do end up shopping at IP, you might mention you read about their awesome customer service here on the forum. Just sort of a continued thank you to nice people who go out of their job description to help someone.

Say, does anyone know if glueing together the old armour's broken pieces will be safe still? Or are they compromised (okay, that's a well duh, but you know what I mean) and their protection questionable? And I'll update about how the Armadillo sleeves work out. They're just so dang HUGE >'Kat
