So my friend just replaced the battery in his 1000cc Buell. The old battery is fine. If I can make it fit, would there be any issue with using this in my 50cc scoot (bbk'd to 80cc)?

I'm not sure, but if it is too big it may fry your electrical system. I do not know much about motorcycle batteries, but if it is the same voltage (12v), and the same or close in amps (4 or 7 amps usually for scooters) and cold cranking amps (CCA, usually around ), then you should be fine.

As long as its 12v it will be fine.

Worked wonderfully. Making it fit took some creativity, but she is starting and running like a champ.
Thanks guys!

I've been thinking if it works with a motorcycle battery, why not maybe a boat battery or other batteries similar? What AMP and CCA does it have? How big is it physically? Just thinking I might hook up something similar eventually.

I removed the battery tray from the floorboard, which allows the battery to sit in the floor. I also fashioned a hammock so to speak to support the battery and take the weight off of the plastic splashgaurd on the bottom of the bike. The frame actually supports the battery for the most part, but I wanted a little redundancy to eliminate my fear of hitting a bump and the battery falling through the bottom Not 100% sure on the CCA of the battery, but it was starting a 984cc buell with little effort (essentially a Harley motor on a sport bike). I can take a picture in a moment of how I Jimmy'd the batt in there.

I would be worried about the frame causing a lot of vibration for the battery that is normally absorbed through the plastic of the body and the fact that the battery compartment can move a little bit to also reduce vibration I think, or at least thats how mine it, but is still very secure.

I don't see any numbers on it besides Napa and GS. Here is the picture.
I plan on creating a more permanent compartment for it in the next couple days, maybe using some spray foam.

Yes, it looks ghetto as heck, I know I used extra scraps of denim stuffed around the battery and in between the batt and frame pieces to provide some cushion and reduce felt vibrations on the battery.

You should use some plastic. Don't use denim or any fabrics, they absorb water and oil and can become a hazard that will short your battery or set something on fire. Try looking around in your storage/basement for small plastic boxes or large tupperware.

Good call on the Tupperware, I hadn't thought of that. I was thinking wrap the battery in a "jimmy hat" and use spray foam to create a custom fit compartment.
