Hey, anyone know anyone who'd like a fix-up Taurus wagon? I know I posted before that the head's cracked, but my mech said we do NOT know that. All we know is the combustion and the coolant are getting friendly together (well, okay, that's not how he phrased it but this makes better sense to me)
I can give you a long list of all the stuff that I've had fixed or replaced in just the last couple years alone. Biggest ones are the power steering pump and the subframe structure and engine mounts.
Bad things besides a leaky gasket, the lift gate's pneumatics are shot, and the roof's clear coat is peeling so the paint's fading off. That apparently was a very common issue with Fords from that time.
Otherwise, he's got 198k on the odo, the third seat, power everything including lumbar support (God I miss that "bladder"!!) Yes, the radio works too (replaced that a few years back)
My mech told a guy who drove 35 minutes to look at my car (and only then asked what I meant by "head gasket failed the chemical test"--really? emailed back'n'forth at least half a dozen times, and you didn't think to ask 'til you drove 35 minutes out here? REALLY??) that I've taken care of this car like it was my baby puppy.
I do NOT want an otherwise good car scrapped. Wasteful, for one. Still in love with him, for another. So can anyone help me out here in selling my wagon?
Btb, we started him last Fri for the first time since they parked him in Dec. 20° out, insanely stupid-cold. Started right up, first try. What a good old car he is!

I'm guessing from the complete absence of comments that nobody has any help for me. Sigh. Sort of figured on that though. Still hoping to sell him rather than scrap him. But I sure am tired of the CL virtual tire-kickers. "Hey, really interested!!!" But not so interested to reply to my email back. SIGH. I don't get it. Is there a thing where folks reply to CL ads only to evaporate? >'Kat

Ok guys'n'gals, cross you fingers or pray or whatever is appropriate for your beliefs.
A lady came out and very much wants my car. Has loved and wanted one for years. Except--his temp gauge redlined when we drove about a mile. Came back down on its own, but the heat kicked off at the stop light, too.
Bad car.
Mon my mechs are going to add the professional quality leak sealer they have. They said it "should" fix the issue of the temp. It won't repair the underlying problem of the leak or crack or whatever is causing the coolant and combustion to get chummy. But it'll bandage it real good. It'll be up to her to remember to have it added again any time she has the coolant flushed, or anything like that.
If this works and the temp stays normal, I do think she'll jump all over buying him. So send all the good wishes you can spare that this works. She's a lot like me about the car, and I really would love for her to get him. Like giving away your pet dog--I want him to go to a good home that'll care for him and love him like I did...still do.
