I'm guessing the oil is NOT leaking from there. Not saying anything insulting - leaks are sometimes oddball things and tricky to track down. Most likely - crank seal, with oil somehow traversing to a point where it LOOKS like it is from where the plug was.

Most likely - crank seal, with oil somehow traversing to a point where it LOOKS like it is from where the plug was. I just replaced the crank seal the same day. I made sure the crank was perfectly smooth and that the seal was properly installed and greased on the inner lips. The seal is perfectly fine. I cleaned the inside up so there were no oil residues left. After riding with the freshly installed seal, I took off the CVT cover and oil was leaking right from the yellow plug. The area around the crankseal is perfectly dry and free of any oil or oil trails. There must be a reason why the factory put a yellow epoxy plug there, as if to seal something off. Otherwise, it would be totally random for them to put epoxy in that hole.

Once again, just a theory, but I would bet a decent sum on it being a casting hole. They are used to allow air and metal to flow into every nook and cranny of the mold. Most end up as protrusions in the final casting that need to be ground off, that's why you see flat round indications on most castings where these protrusions have been removed, but some result in a hole that needs to be plugged.

All the gy6 bikes I have owned/own (5) and those I have serviced have this "plug". They all seem to seep a little oil. Got over 25,000 chinamiles on one and still doing the same "seeping". Hasn't affected a thing: Just a little clean-up once in a while. Not totally sure where the seeping originates but may not be from this "plug" al all: Maybe everything just vibrates and pools to this spot? IDK....
