Back when I used to race garden tractors I used a smog pump off of a gm on a b&s engine.

That was some good reading. I wish they had these 20 years ago. Roy

something that will help keep costs down is the use standard size bearings and shaft like the bearings for shakeboards you can get like 16 of them for under $20

[replyingto=hypocycle]hypocycle[/replyingto]The only proble I can see, is I don't think the carb is gonna like it very much.
From what I've read, you don't want to blow thru a carb, you want to suck thru the carb. When you blow thru the carb, it pressurizes the float bowl, cuasing all sorts of mis-behaving. Fuel injection wouldn't care.. Carbs are black magic and voodo... =) (and I'm learning to be a witch doctor)

I'm very interested in following your progress in this project. A couple notes to consider though. A blow off valve would be the best application for regulating maximum intake charge pressure. Intercooling for either application would be a good idea, for a turbo it would be a must. Carburetors will in fact misbehave if designed to be drawn through are subjected to abnormal pressure differentials. A special carburetor for push through applications must be installed. I'll do some research to contribute, I love forced induction applications!

what if you just replumbed it so that the carb was before the bower... then go directly from the blower right into the head? The longer "runner" might create some hesitation tho.... Pressure box for the carb maybe? I don't know if they make a push thru carb for something like this... Can a stock one be retrofitted?

Bearings will need some form of lubrication too at the rpm that they will be subjected to. Bearings for a skateboard may not be robust enough, but a quality sets can be obtained relatively cheap. ?There are a ton of different sizes already in the market that will do fine in this application. The real question is how to adapt the oil supply to feed the bearings, then return to the crankcase. Another question to consider is filtration. The majority of engine wear and damage is caused by debris in the 10-20 micron range, or 1/4-1/3 the thickness of a human hair. Bearings are very susceptible to damage and failure is almost always catastrophic. Having a compressor contact a case during operation will send large pieces into the intake track and can end up in the valves and cause internal engine damage. I have seen this happen in the automotive industry. Something to remember.

Regarding the skate bearings. It has been a long time but I remember replacing the kids akate bearings a bit too frequently in my opinion. Perhaps they went bad because hewould go through puddles or something but I don't think they would hold up as well as people would like.
