After a day of extended use of my scoot, the sliders get out place giving me troubles at low rpms, after several times it happened I decided to take them out and put the rollers back on; is this normal for sliders to get out of place?

No, it's not normal. Are you sure you have the correct size sliders?

How is your clutch tension? Could your clutch be allowing your variator to slop around on deceleration? I didn't have my sliders for long but they didn't have any problem working when I did.

No, it's not normal. Are you sure you have the correct size sliders? I wasn't aware that they have different sizes, I thought the only thing that changed was the weight. They are 12g, how do I know the right size?

yes the big one. it does sound as if during decel it is not keeping enough tension on the belt which is needed to keep pressure on the variator and whence keep the sliders in place. it may be rusty or the inner sleeve is fouled. i had one that would get a bit cocked and not close right.

The size needed is based on the variator. There are also 20x15 for the 150cc 16" wheel model's variator, and a couple of different sizes for 50cc models, and then there are ATV and snowmobile sizes, and so on, so it's not completely rare for someone to get the wrong size.
If your variator is not opening and closing smoothly, they can get out of place. You may need to replace the guides on the back of the variator, if they get too worn they can bind.

i second the variator guide check also, forgot about that. Me too. I had a cracked boss once and I think it was holding the variator open, making deceleration come out in steps rather than smoothly.

The big clutch spring is the one the scoot came with, I have a spare red spring I bought a few months back, I removed it because it made the scooter go slower, the factory one performed better; I will try with that one and see if that helps

That engine does take the 14x18 weights. So check your ramp guides and your clutch return spring and sheath.

What brand sliders are they ? I had a problem with koso sliders before . my koso variator did not like the koso sliders. That's the only think I do not like about sliders , that's why I stick with rollers. All it takes is a slight hiccup in the variator and a slider could flip on you.
