You can plug any battery in there that fits the compartment. I know the '08 model have a carb, but my EFI came with ~9Ah battery, 12V, Amazon has plenty of those batteries; any battery that looks like it has the right dimensions to fit in the compartment, and is AT LEAST 7Ah, is good enough.
My EFI model ran best with mid-grade. I don't know how the carb models do. In any case,it's easy to know. Just do some wot rides, and the fuel where it runs the fastest on, is your best fuel. More than likely it's going to be mid grade fuel.
Good luck, the BMS is a 8!TC# to work on!

You can also find all kinds of how-to videos on you tube, just punch in something like "putting in a motor scooter fuel pump" etc. And see what pops up.

The correct battery for the scooter is a YTX7A-BS. If you get the right battery you ensure that it fits under the battery cover and will match the contour of the underseat liner. You can get a nice scorpion battery for 43 delivered from batterystuff.com
