Hey guys, So my head light and tail light doesn't work. I have done some testing and leads me to believe there is a short somewhere in the main wire harness. The yellow wire (12v) that connects to the idle enricher, stator, head/tail lights, rectifier must be worn somewhere and possibly grounding out on the frame.
I have most of the fairings off and don't see an issue so far... I'll remove the rest of them to get a better look. But before I do, I was wondering if there are any common trouble areas that I should focus on. I really don't want to start unwrapping the harness blindly. Any suggestions on how to locate the short would be great. Thanks!

yeah use a multi-meter and check ohm resistance

If you have isolated it to a single wire with an ohm meter, then do a wire pull instead of unwrapping. You splice the bad wire to a length of new wire with tape (not a true splice, just tape them as tightly as possible, don't increase diameter). Then pull the old wire out, pulling the new wire into place at the same time. It can be frustrating if the splice doesn't hold, but massaging the wiring harness as you pull usually allows you to get it through. If there is a true short that has melted plastics together, you won't be able to pull the old wire, and will have to unwrap the harness.
