Tesla has it closer than the rest as far as cars go. Base model has a 244 mile higway crusing range at 55 and 308 miles with the extended range model. Both include built in GPS to get you to the closest free charging station that Tesla has put in on the major interstates such as I95 on the Eastern Seaboard making it so you can drive from New York to Miami for free charging your Tesla every 5 hours when you stop to stretch your legs and grab a bite to eat. About 1 hour for a full charge. One elderly New Yorker recently did the round trip in his Tesla and since he packed his food it did not cost him a cent on the road.

I'll take 300 miles. And I'd even be willing to give up a quickie recharge to get the range. After all, if you've driven almost 300 miles, don't you want to rest for more than 10 minutes? I would!

The possibility of fuel cell powered scooters excites me. Battery powered scooters do not excite me at all.
