These days? Heck, I'll take this "Honey" of a Cobra anytime. ... or maybe a van with it's own spy periscope!

howdy leo , here, the little honda would drive itself some night to someone elses place and never come home. it's a different world. we used to leave the key in the car so the neighbor could use it if he needed it lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken
Ken,
I was born and grew up in Chicago in the fifties... Yeah, even THERE, we never locked anything. My chopper (I had about $300,000 TODAY'S bucks in it) didn't even have a locking ignition. Just an on/off switch (factory 1957 Harley ignition; LOCKING switch was "optional").
When I permanently moved to Texas in 1977, nobody locked anything. Most pickup trucks (including mine) had a high-buck loaded shotgun or rifle in the window rack. No AC... Always parked with the windows down. NOBODY would think of stealing your gun. Whew, times have changed.
In my "hood" the "authorities" just dropped off about 100 illegal aliens fresh from crossing our wide-open southern border. (Oh, thank you, Washington, for the early "Christmas present"). I'm AMAZED at how fast they simply disappeared into the woodwork. AND, how fast they have come back out, two-by-two, trying doors and eyeing parked cars, "Slim-Jims" in-hand.
It's been great for firearms sales though... A $500 mil-spec combat weapon now brings $1,000 and more... And you can't find a box of 7.62, .223, 9mm, .40 cal. or .45 ACP ammo at any price. Good old "supply and demand".
I can't sleep in the old Honda, so keeping it "home" from now on, will now be a REAL problem. Mid nineties Honda Accords are THE #1 stolen cars in Texas. Thankfully, the larcenous little cretins have little interest in SCOOTERS. But now, my redneck neighbors with Harleys REALLY have a problem.
As The Duke once said: "It's a hard life, Pilgrim..."
Watch that horizon, and keep yer' powder dry...
Leo in Texas
