2008 gy6 50cc hasn't started in 3 years...need help  By  gyguy (Read 219 times)

I have this scooter that im trying to get running and it hasnt started in years.  I have established that it has spark. I also took off the carburator and gave it a quick spray w/ carb cleaner and an air compressor. It had rust in the gas tank so i have to get a new one. The question/questions is/are:

Are there any steps I should take before trying to start it besides the above mentioned? ie. should I get a new fuel petcock, new hoses, and new fuel filter?

Is there any way to know if it is a short case or long case engine?

If it is a short case, can I still stretch it on a ruckus frame?

Should I take the motor apart and what should it be cleaned with?
