I have a 2014 TaoTao EVO 150 ATM (Or maybe it has me). Have about 4500 KM on the china meter. Recently put a new exhaust on there because time and time again the old one would break right at the first bend coming out of the head.
I now have a chirp/squeal sound that happens when moving any where from 2 mph to 30. It seems to get better at top mph/speed but sometimes is still there. It's impossible for me to drive and find the exact location at the same time. Need someone to ride or drive along side me and see if they can get a clue.
I had a magneto fail on me at 2200 Km and I am afraid this new one is what might be causing the 'chirp/squeal'. Otherwise the scoot runs well and there is NOTHING loose on the muffler that I can find. have rechecked each bolt. Only thing I can not eliminate is mabe something internal to the muffle in the baffles might be doing the squealing/chirping. Any thoughts??

howdy, i just had something similar and it's easy to check. the axle nut got loose and the wheel started wobbling on the splines with a squeaky kinda sound in the right rear. the shop that balanced the tire didn't tighten the nut enough and the castle nut turned and cut the cotter key so the nut continued to loosen. check with it on the center stand and from the rear try to move the tire side to side.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

Silly question - has the exhaust been tightened properly? My suggestion is to lift someone while riding and let them hold a piece of hose pipe to their ear and listen while directing it in different areas in the direction of the noise. Hope this makes sense. I used to listen for air leaks on motors or engine noises using that method.
