First two trips were on the Savage, two trips on the Scoot. Leave Home about 8:30 pm, into Joshua Tree National Park, southern entrance: (Using my SmartPhone!) Putting northward, doing 30-35 mph, about 2am, stopped for a cup of tea. Same place as last year: maps.google.com/maps?q=34.00117,-116.04979 A bit tired, laid down for a snooze, woke just before sunrise. Had another cup and tea and packed the stuff back on the scoot: Continuing, stopped to see the moon setting: Me and a long shadow as the sun rises, and you can just see the moon touching the mountain: And finally out the Northwest exit of the Park: 13 hours, 385 miles, 5.057 gallons (76+ mpg)

Great pics. I spent a lot of time at nearby lovely 29 Palms. I think I only drove thru Joshua Tree once.

I love the desert, especially under a full moon. Stopped for tea and biscuits, got out the stove, pot, water, tea bags, sugar, milk in a cooler -- all without any light other than the full moon. At my age, I tend to get sleepy after eating. I am insane, but I am not stupid to ride when sleepy, and I carried the bedroll just in case. Surprise! Hard ground is just fine when you are tired.
From the Pilot Truck Stop in Palm Springs to the Entrance is 49 miles down the freeway, getting maybe 70 mpg. From the Exit back down CA62 back to the Pilot Truck Stop is 32 miles, downhill, getting maybe 80 mpg. From the entrance to the exit is 56.3 miles, cruising an lazy 30-40 mph, gave me 'way over 100 mpg.
385 miles, 5.06 gallons, $21.22. Cheap fun.

This is "obviously" CGI imagery. As everyone "knows" you CANNOT take a scooter onto the freeway! All kidding aside, beautiful pictures (Vespa should let you shoot their ad-work)

You're local. The weekend of July 12-13 is the full moon. They don't charge entrance at midnight. Riding in the Mojave under a full moon, 30 mph, no helmet no goggles no traffic no cares, is very relaxing. Try it! (at 30 mph the critters can dodge you.)

All kidding aside, beautiful pictures (Vespa should let you shoot their ad-work) I is a professional photographer -- $100 from a newspaper. I e-mailed Vespa USA and they corrected their web-site because of me. They would never use my pictures -- a $24 Rubbermaid storage box does not meet their standards for a tail box.
