I have owned a GY6 scooter since 2008. For the first 5 years, the only thing that came out of the PCV drain hose was thick oily residue. I emptied it every few months. Lately I had some flooding issues. R&R the carb. Cleaned the jets of course and the float valve. No flooding, but the fluid that collects in the PCV drain tube is now clear, and smells like gas. It is gas.
The spark plug is the proper color, so it is not running rich. The carb seems adjusted well with the idol screw at 1 turn out. No rich smell from the exhaust.
Anyone ever draw a correlation between the PCV drainage and carb problem? Just wondering if this could be used as a diagnostic aid.

The sponge was saturated from the flooding event. It was slowly draining into the drain tube. I squeezed the gas out of the sponge and all is well. I didn't even have to clean it this time. The gas did that for me.
