My cell has been gone about a week , between the bad weather and work I just got a new one .
I was wondering how long does it take in your area to get a replacement phone . I got ripped off by the insurance I was paying each month , when it came time to use it . They tell me $99 deductible and we will give you phone A or B brand new with warranty . I can buy "A" for $80 plus tax I can't even find phone "B" . I said to the woman I don't want "A or B" why not give me some $ towards the one I want (we don't do that) . So I did not want "A or B" and they were not willing to deviate .
So I walk into the store today , I asked the two guys in line in front of me , if they mind if I just ask if they have the phone I want in the store . So I ask the girl she says yes . I wait my turn when its my turn I hand her my credit card and say I will take it . She replies we sell and activate only and $20 for activation ( I'm standing in the store already 20 minutes) . I'm getting jerked here online its $20 less and free shipping . I could have been nicer to her . Now the other bomb drops , she has to make a call to get the phone . When she makes the call I ask how long till it gets here , 15 minutes she said , I asked how long to connect it , she said 5 minutes . I looked at my watch it said 12:40 , ok 1pm I will be on my way . Well at the hour mark I asked them to credit my card back . They told me the delivery guy was parking I walked out of the door at almost 3pm and had to wait an hour for the system to update for my phone to work . 5 oclock I call them and let them know its not working and showing a sim card error . So back to the store I go . This time they got it correct .
I remember the last time I had to buy new phones it was a very long wait to get to the window , then to get 2 brand new phones connected took like two hours at the window .
So do sales people lie in other parts of the country or only in NY ? The equipment insurance have any of you guys or gals found your self with the same lowball offer ?

i don't know John. i got rid of my phone service with T-mobile years ago to go with a tracphone since i can get by with 100 minutes per month. tracphone set up was easy and fast. T-mobile might have took 15 minutes and they had phone behind the counter. i never buy insurance unless i am forced by the government.

at the time the phones I bought were almost the latest greatest and cost me some coin . It seemed at the time a good idea just incase . Three years later on the other hand not so good .

Someone I really respect once said only buy insurance on laptops and similar high-price items that you slug around and are likely to get dropped or beat up. I would think smart phones fall under that description. But sounds like there were lots of restrictions and nonsense to your policy, which bites. I would fight the provider and at least make them credit some of your cost.
Keep going up the ladder of management. I had cracked heads at 120k miles on my car's engine. Got a Jasper engine. At 20k miles and ONE MONTH out of warranty, their head cracked. Called and was told too bad, out of warranty. Called again and asked for guy's boss, told out of warranty not in the computer any more too bad. Called again and asked for guy's boss' boss, who was the top tier boss. He tried to tell me the same. I pointed out the Ford engine that every mechanic in the universe knows has head issues lasted 120k, while their engine barely made 20k, and see the problem I have with the math here? He finally rolled and sent a new head.
The trick is to stay polite, but also be firm. Don't get an "in your face" attitude, but make them know you have a very legitimate complaint and are not going away without satisfaction.
Good luck!
