does the electric start work? my instrument panel went dead last week and also lost power to starter. it was a loose wire connected to the fuse near the battery. check the fuse.

my fuel sending unit went on the fritz. If a wire grounds it will read empty and not move. It looks for resistance in the line. I'd pull out the sending unit and wiggle the float with the key on first. Try to chase the wire and see if it is grounded. If all else fails unplug it and put a multimeter on the 2 wires and set it to ohms. Move the float and see if the range changes. They are cheap to buy and made of sheap parts so it's not uncommon to die.
As far as the speedo goes, I think it's mechanical.

It's just the gas gauge and speedometer that don't work... Gas gauge is always empty and speedometer says 25 when not moving have tried to zero it which worked for block until I got over 25 then it wouldn't go under it again both quit at same time after going down brick road

Sounds like vibration/shock damage from your trip down that brick road, definitely doesn't sound like a cable or electric issue. I would suggest checking the parts directly under the display, I'm betting there's some vibration damage there. The speedo getting stuck once you go past 25 would suggest the indicator itself is binding, probably due to a big bump or two you took on that road, and the fuel gauge could have the same issue.
