Well the valve adjustment didn't help the backfiring issue. It did make it run better when it finally cranked. One thing I found out by accident is the thing will crank up when I have killed it the day before with the kill switch rather than the ignition key. Anyone know why this is?. It will crank after a few revolutions even on a cold morning. It hasn't backfired since. Weird.

mine was doing that for a while too man, no sure why but it eventually stopped. I did adjust the air/fuel ratio until it was right(took a lot of experimenting), fixed exhaust leak, and mitigated my airbox leak.
So good luck! Sometimes scoots just like to act weird, and then go back to being normal haha.
