Just saw this video with a couple of neat tricks for adjusting your valves. First trick is using a screw with a square drive slot that fits the valve adjusting screw perfectly. Second trick is based on the mathematics of the screw threads, showing how far to turn the valve adjusting screw to achieve the correct gap. I personally will still be using my feeler gauge to be certain I'm on the money, but it's still a neat trick using mathematics. As for the screw with a square slot, I would use a bolt rather than a wood screw, and put small piece of metal on it as a handle held in place by two nuts. Here's a mockup:

Interesting, but don't forget that metal fatigues and compresses. Whenever I adjust valves the bolt heads are almost never in the same position twice.

Right, but if you follow the video, you tighten down to just touching, then follow the formula for the correct amount of turn. Either way, I would still use a feeler gauge. The interesting part to me was that a common square head screw fits the valve adjusting screw head perfectly, making an easy DIY tool.

Cool. I like the ability to hold the tappet (someone stole my 9mm) while tighening the nut. Especially something small with the ability to hold the tappet from any angle. And cheap to boot! They can steal all the screws they want: As long as I do not see 'em! LOL I do like my feeler guages, though. Thanks
