Not long ago my scooter wouldn't stay running because the valves were out of adjustment. About 500 miles & less than 2 months later they needed to be adjusted again. After checking the lock nut that tightens the adjusters in place, both were tightly secure & adjusters were still in same position. Can anyone tell me if it Is typical or common for a 2012 TaoTao CY50-T3 scooter with QMB139 engine to need a valve adjustment this frequently or is there a problem somewhere else causing the valves to lose adjustment this often?

Adjusted how? Too tight or too loose the second time? How many miles total on the scoot?
If it has 2000 miles or less the valves will tighten up when relatively new. You may do them 2-3 times that first 2000 miles. I did on my T3 but I didnt notice any change between my settings. Perhaps you thought you set them at a gap and for whatever reason it creeped closed when you tightened the nut?
