If the stock size is 18mm and an advertised replacement for a 50cc scooter is 20mm how will that effect things if you use the same size jets that were working well from the stock 18mm carb?

Larger size carb will increase air flow. Using the same size jets will cause it to run lean. Use an 18mm as a replacement unless you are going to up the displacement to a large degree. IMHO
