Ok here's the question I am stuck on . Not too long ago I replaced my spark plug and it was dead normal according to the chart . So I'm thinking great my mix is right and everything . So the other day I took the cap off my carb to do some needle work and my needle is adjustable . I put the clip one notch down , raising the needle in the slide . I put it all together and scoot sounded great , nice response and sound . Took it for a ride and rode great . So I was thinking of taking the little cap off the snorkel that protrudes from the air box since now I am running a little richer than befor and to see if it would have any effect on performance . Slow jet was fine but when the main took over it spit and sputtered almost like to lean or not getting enough gas . Any ideas ? The little cap that has the four holes that goes on the end of the snorkel shouldn't have made that big of a differance should it ? Put it back on and ran like a charm . Was wanting to put a less restrictive filter on it at some point and know I would have to rejet or get a 18mm carb but realy the snorkel cap has that much effect on the thing ? Comments welcomed .

anything that lets more air in leans out the mix.If you are running a stock 50cc, Put it back the way it was. If you want to tweak performance, lighten up on the variator weights. Or get a BBK

Raise the needle one more notch and try again, repeat. If if it still doesn't like the snorkel cap out, you could swap in a larger jet if you're feeling randy.

Yeah I have thought about rejecting when I go for a less restrictive filter set up . Also have thought about an 18 mm carb . 24 Naraku carb is what I want but that would be like putting a Holley quadrant 4 barrel 750 on a Geo metro lol . So I putt it back and making a Christmas list ....72 bbk , 24 mm Naraku carb , and I saw a nice naraku clutch set up want . Next years riding season will be awesome .

Some guys with BBK's swear the stock air box flows just as good as any aftermarket setup, if not better due to the whole intake pulse thing. I'm sure not all air boxes are created equal, but it seems yours is one that lets in a significant amount more air with the snorkel cap off. But, the chrome tubes sure are purty...
