I was head of maintenance in a woodworking millworks and many of the repairs I did was cleaning up gearboxes where someone put greasepacked sealed bearings inside gearboxes that were filled with gear lube and had pressed in seals in the cases themselves. The pressed in seals would score the shafts due to lack of ubricant getting to them in the beginning and then the gear lube would disolve the seals built into the bearings allowing the gear lube to leak out causing preamature wear and tear inside the gearboxes requireing hardened parts to be replaced. Did a lot of extra work due to someone else using the wrong bearings for the application.
