Do you have any idea what the gear ratio is for those wheels?

My new ride: 2012 Tomos Twister 50 BEAUTIFUL scooter! You could most likely find a close match for the paint in "Dupli-Color" lacquer. In spray cans, it has a professional spray pattern and will provide as good a job as an airbrush. HOWEVER, the black trunk blends in nicely with the seat. Painted to match the body, it is going to really "jump out" at you. I'd really think about it before painting it. Matching the seat, lower plastics and rear fender is pretty tasteful, especially if the trunk is a matte-black similar to the scooter plastics. Just a thought, but it looks very good as-is. Sincerely, Leo in Texas PS: If you DO decide to paint it, and it has any texture to the black, it will require a NUMBER of coats of lacquer filler-primer and sanding to get it absolutely smooth before the red is applied. Once done, a near-factory gloss can be achieved with a couple of careful applications of good clear outdoor enamel (I've used Rustoleum clear with good results). You can paint ENAMEL over LACQUER, but NOT lacquer over enamel. Lacquer will curdle enamel.I love working with automotive lacquer. It dries hard enough to sand and re-coat in just an hour or so. The finish enamel however, remains soft enough to fingerprint, and too soft to sand for MANY DAYS. Baking in the sun helps, but enamel dries SLOWLY!

[replyingto=oldchopperguy]oldchopperguy[/replyingto]Thanks for the compliment on my scoot and your input regarding painting the trunk Leo. I have decided to leave it flat black since it has a slightly rough texture to it and I think if I couldn't get an exact paint match it would detract from the overall looks of the scoot.

Go to an auto paint store with your VIN, and they can mix-up a color to match exactly. They can even put it into a spray can. You'll have options as to whether you want a hardener, high gloss, or standard.
