Bought a 50cc chinese scooter about a year ago, and have since put 5k Km on her. Around December, it started acting a little sluggish at times, and occasionally would stumble when I hit the throttle hard. Once the engine got good and warm, however, she was back to her old screamin self. I attributed it to the cold, as most carbs hate cold weather anyway, and thought maybe cold weather might slow the action of the auto choke. Well, over the past couple weeks, since it has warmed up a bit, it has gotten worse instead of better. My startup routine is now as follows... 1. The first crank of the day will start it right up, so I let it idle a bit, and within a minute or two, it stalls out. 2. Must wait a couple minutes to start it up again, this time it is very difficult to start. Now it won't hold an idle without stalling, i have to keep the throttle moving back and forth. Eventually it stalls again. 3. Wait a few more minutes to crank, it starts a little easier, and after a bit more throttle play, eventually can hold idle. 4. Time to roll, ever so slowly. It now runs smooth but very weak, for about 5-10 minutes, then bit by bit I notice the power creeping in and after a while it runs normal.
Ok. So, Oil is fine, vacuum lines are all fine ( the one leading to the petcock was cracked a bit and was replaced, no change) Air filter and airbox are clean and nice, I have yet to check the valves, but I am thinking that shouldnt be the culprit since it does eventually behave well, usually. So, I am left thinking either I have a gummy carb, or a bad auto choke. Sound like that may be the case?
