It seems a quickly worn out drive belt is a common issue with new scooters & mine was no exception over the weekend. Felt lucky cause it was original stock & scooter is 1.5 yrs old w/ 7.5k+ miles. When I pulled the cover off, it looked like the belt snapped & wrapped around one of the pulleys. Since I've never changed one, I'm unsure if it's relatively easy or more to it than meets the eye & don't really know where to start. I've heard talk about replacing it with a gates belt, replacing the variator fan & inspecting the pulleys & clutch. Seems like a huge waste of time & money if I burn up a new belt and a bigger problem lies eleswhere or overlook addt'l preventive maintenance. Also seems to makes sense to go ahead & replace the rollers with quality upgrade if I need to dig into it but don't know anything about them or what type to invest in.

The stock stuff is usually fine and 7k on a belt makes me think all the hard bits are working fine. Clean it all out well and buy/borrow an impact wrench and its pretty easy to do. Don't use the short cut method with the variator in place. Gates makes a good belt but I hear Bando does too. Did I mention you should clean it all out really well. Compressed air works well... You may consider a roller to slider change while you're in there its an inexpensive upgrade that isn't too radical...

Right on the money! And, yes, it's a GREAT time to experiment with rollers or sliders! I found with mine, just ONE gram difference would go from too heavy to too light, and wound up with a mix of 3 12's and 3 13's for rollers in my Xingyue 150. I am going to try Dr. Pulley sliders though. The wedge-shape seems to allow them to go further down, and further out than rollers. That would help at BOTH ends of the rpm range. Ride safe, and enjoy the ride!Leo in Texas
