I have been having some trouble with my Scooter in the CVT area first my belt broke because it got to hot so I bought a new belt a good strong brand belt. When I got it I noticed that it was a 18.1 instead of a 18 and my CVT area was still getting hot so I ordered a new belt that was the right size. I also changed out the gear oil and put some fresh oil in there. When I got the new belt I put it on and within 3 mins of riding it got to hot and the belt got shredded. I think my problem might be where the gears are at. Also when I am driving it feels like something might be slipping and catching. Maybe the gears? I would be going about 35 then the rpm would rev high and then it would go back to normal and I would feel something catch and my bike would jump a little bit.
If it is the gears what would be the easiest way for me to go about maybe changing the gears for some new ones? I have a taotao 50cc CY50-T3.

I would check the clutch and variator first, clean everything up good.while you have the clutch off, you can open up the gearbox and check all the bearings. ;D It's unlikely the gears themselves are at fault. Either a bearing or a spacer or shim.More than likely though, it's the clutch. Be real careful opening it up! it's spring loaded, and could hurt you. Also make sure the vent in the cvt cover is clear.

So you think I should change the compression springs in the clutch? I also didn't know that I was suppose to change the gear oil until recently so I had driven about 5,000 miles before I changed the oil in it.
Would the compression springs in the clutch cause it to over heat though? I used to think it was the incorrect belt size because it might have been rubbing or something. I also already had cleaned everything up in the variator but not the clutch. Didn't look like it needed to be cleaned but I could be wrong. What would you recommend be the best way to open the gearbox without taking the whole engine out of the bike?

Remove the rear tire, remove the clutch, and you will see the bolts for the geaarbox. contrary to what some people say, You don't need to change the gear oil. one time to get rid of the chinese stuff and thats it! good for the life of the scooter. However, in your case, since it overheated, I would change the gear oil.. If you can spin your rear wheel by hand easily, the problem is not the gears. the clutch is probably slipping. It is not the contra spring, but probably theclutch shoes themselves, try a good brake parts cleaner nd some sandpaper.

I put used about half a can of brake cleaner and I used the sand paper a little bit I didn't do it a lot just a bit on each pad. Wasn't sure how much I should have done. My CVT area is still over heating and it is slipping still plus it makes a squeaking noise when im going about 10 to 20 mph. I also sprayed the case of the clutch to clean off the stuff on the inside. Any Ideas?
