someone posted this vid in a thread recently (i think). the entire vid is good but if you queue forward to 8min 20secs then you can enjoy the most entertaining and amazing story of the game of chess that i have ever heard. sorry if the link doesn't take you to the 8m20s mark. crackle vids are difficult. anyhow... so what do you think? i've watched that clip of this vid 4 times. it is an awesome story.  |

My best chess game was at a CB meeting in a café in Long Beach. Two guys playing, move, move, etc., "Mate". I say, "nope, just check." They play the one then it was mate. Winner says "Want to play", pointing at the loser. I say "I would prefer against you."
So we play. blah blah move move and I put a knight out naked and unprotected, a freebie. Hello!!! It's trap! DUH.... but.... what it is was a mistake? Look for the trap.... can't see it. Picks up a man, sets it back. Looks. Picks up a man, sets it back. Looks at it more. 3 points is enough to take the game. If it is a mistake it is the game for him. Looks, picks up a man, sets it back. If is a trap, he will lose. " ^%#! " and he takes the knight. My other knight hops over and forks the King and Queen. "Check!" He moves, I take the queen, it gets my other knight -- 6 points versus the 9 points for the queen.
We were close, 3 points was enough to take the game.
Now, about the worst game....

He says or something like "Not bad!" Slap slap "Mate!"
Yet. That was Troy himself, past master. Unlike the video, I know when I am outmatched. I didn't need a second game.
