Man, I would love to ride maggi to Colorado Springs ( I grew up there) and cruise the garden of gods and pikes peak highway. I have been to the summit many times and used to do the march of dimes walk-a-thon through the garden of the gods when I was in school. I have also climbed to the top of the kissing camels.

such a beautiful area i think garden of the gods is so very spiritual , snow on the PEAK most of the summer. WOW wish we could of stayed longer
we had a apt way up, gee forget the name of the road, but it went past the air force academy , and the AF base.

....i bet we can do it here. east coast riders west coast riders And once again the MidWest is totally ignored. Sigh. Always the bridesmaid, never the scoot meet-up. Or something. Seriously, there's several in the KC area (albeit on opposite sides), and we do have honkin' good bbq. That alone should merit mention for a meet up!.... >'Kat

It's probably unknown outside the immediate area as well.

I've been with the Maxi-Scoots group a few times with meet ups in PA, KY & MO. Didn't make it to the meet up in TN this year though and it is not exactly 150cc & lower friendly. Big scooters 250cc & up and a few motorcycles for rides that have hit the super slab on occasion. I've used my 250cc Honda Reflex & Silverwing 600 scooter for these gatherings/events. I went to Amerivespa in 2012 when it was held in Wisconsin and have ridden my scooters the 860+ miles several times to get to AR for the STO event.
It is not easy I'd imagine, to get a group of 150cc & less scooters & riders together in a regional area larger than a single state unless some were daring enough to go further than that or have their bikes hauled some way to the meet up. Or if there were already a place where there was a high concentration of scooter riders.
There are some just confident (or crazy) enough to make 3000+ mile trips on scooters that are 250ccs and less. An example of that is the Scooter Cannonball Run which is held every 2 years. (first started in 2006 I believe) The 2016 run Is set (so far) to start July 5, 2016 in Fernandina Beach FL., heads generally north west and ends on July 15, 2016 in Mukilteo, WA. (a small suburb north of Seattle WA) For a total of 3723 miles. They are apparently still working out the details on the rules of participation and who knows what else. That is more miles in 10 days than what a lot of folks put on their bikes in several years. Not a ride for the timid or unprepared. I'd like to be a part of that just because; even if I was not serious about the actual competition. Just doing that ride would be... to use an over used cliche... "awesome" .
Anyway, I have trouble getting folks to get together even just locally. Coming up near the end of May 2016, (exact date not set yet) I will be hosting the "3rd Annual Spring Tune Up & BBQ" (a gathering of shiftless characters) at my place here in SE MI. The idea is for small tasks to be done on our scooters, oil change, brake pads or drive belt change, lights or top box projects... any simple thing. For the camaraderie, conversation & cuisine. (I usually do some country style ribs on the grill and get a bucket of KFC, do some corn on the cob + a bunch of other BBQ fare) We don't go on any rides and sometimes don't even do much tune up stuff, but we eat pretty good and have a good time talking scooter stuff all day long. Been kind of small with only 5 or 6 guys, but still fun. Single day event, no live bands or 4 course top chef meals here, just good BBQ grub and WE, the participants ARE the entertainment for this gig.
There was some discussion somewhere sometime about doing gatherings, but the point I made was that mostly it just takes a commitment & someone to do it. Set a date, time and place and people will either show up or they won't. It's just helpful if folks let you know they are committed to showing up. It makes logistics of the event easier to figure out; ie: how much food will be needed, the amount of room needed to conduct the event, just how elaborate one may decide to go to get it all set up and any other thing event related.
I don't mind traveling to get to gatherings, but then I have 250cc and lager scooters that can easily make it and the time available to do it. That is often not the case when it comes to the smaller scooters.
Well this is interesting..... Just came across something called Motor-Scooter International Land-Speed Federation This looks like something I'd do, so I signed up to the group.

I am in the early stages of setting up a slow speed gymkhana event. I did it once before for just the club I run with and it was a success. We needed more games though.
The games I have in mind: Slow race with the lanes getting narrower with each elimination round The U-turn squeeze with the box getting narrower as eliminations continue The spiral of death. Starting with a 15 foot radius and getting 5 gallon bucket diameter times pi narrower with each lap The ever tightening chicane of pain. Weave between cones that keep getting closer and closer together. Brake test! The problem is getting consistent speed from the riders as they enter the stopping box.
Any other game ideas? Keep in mind it is meant to be a slow contest, not a speed one and there are very few riding double since most of the women have their own scooters.
One final thing -- is handicapping do-able? My Majesty 400 can do a U turn in well under 20 feet, my TMAX could barely do it, and those on the 650 Burgmans . . . well, there is an old Country Western song "Give me 40 Acres . . ."
