I must be missing something and I have been around quite awhile and have fixed many chains probably more than most but a "SWELLING TOOL"? Can someone put a picture of this tool. I know there are many types of chain breakers, installers, peeners and spreaders but I have never heard of a tool called a "SWELLING TOOL". The only one I know of is what boxers use to get their swells down by pressing a cold piece of hand held metal which they do call swelling tool. Alleyoop I have probably repaired or replaced more chain in a month than you have seen in your life, and probably some types of chain you don't even know about. I have been a machine mechanic for almost 30 years. I am not going to take my camera to work and take photos of my tools just to prove to you that these tools do exist. They call these tools by a number of names, just like a lot of other tools. I am not going to argue with you on this subject any more. If you don't believe they make this kind of tool research it. Well I really wanted to see this "SWELLING TOOL" because I cannot find such a chain tool and I have little over 50 years doing this stuff. Maybe I missed it and someone just came out with a new thingy for chains and only a few have it. Or maybe the guys in the shop start calling the chain tools a swelling tool because it spreads out the pins or whatever they want to squish.
Since you don't want to take a picture of it maybe a link to the tool because I cannot find it. I am sure someone in the shop knows where to get one just in case it breaks or wears out. It would also help out the troops here if it makes connecting and breaking a chain easier. Alleyoop

Ok fellas, I too am a Machine mechanic with 37 years experience, (and most recently a Plant Engineer). I have worked on many many chains, different types too. .Part of my responsibilities was purchasing tools, parts and supplies of all types. I too have never heard the name Sweller. I figured Different parts of the country call things by different names. I would also like to know more about this tool . Now my curiosity kicked in. So, if it's not too much trouble, Please share info with us... It may help a fellow scooterist out ;D
