Just got back from a 1500 mile trip to and from 3000 total miles in a thousand dollar car with 130,000 miles on it. Before hand major problem with engine I had to replace the main serpentine belt. I had to put new power fluid, trans fluid and filter, oil, and air filter. Trip Wisconsin to Northern Nevada I hate the desert everything from Nebraska west... No trees at all make the air dry hard to breathe. The rain smells bad compared to the Midwest no moisture smell. The hills of sandstone gravel gets boring while no water and sauna hotness not like Midwest hot sucks. All in all a scooter could not take the 5000 plus elevations either everyone drives miles per hour there. Trucks racing past with CB radios and everyone is Hispanic. In the west nobody lives out there so finding gas is every 80 miles or more unlike stops every 20 miles in the Midwest. Everyone is speaking Spanish and stressed out there. Not racist but when I hear more Spanish in a day then English in the background and I know no Spanish it feels weird. Shacks and small garage like homes all over the west including rv Parks. City's 200 miles apart on average.

You are the cheap king! Yeah its a 1991 Chevy cavalier convertible the top comes down with a push of he button still clean inside. Insurance is 200 bucks for 6 months. 134,000 miles now but bought with 130,000 miles. It was $300 in gas there and back so $600 bucks total in gas.

OUCH!....... I'm in California! I didn't get to cali just everything from northern Nevada to Wisconsin. Cali is more of the west coast (lots of population pockets and money) near the ocean instead of the wild or true west.

And we have neat places to scoot, like the twisty run to Idyllwild. (neat little art town not far from Palm Springs.) I'm going to make the run myself, but first some serious upjetting....a 5000 foot elevation!

Is did sea foam the intake aka vacuum line and gas tank which cleans the injectors from carbon. I think I blew out all the carbon on this trip I smell nothing from the exhaust good news.

howdy, good job on the cheap, but i've probably got ya beat. bought a buick for 38.06 in change i saved in a sock. drove it from missouri to idaho twice then back to washington, then to missouri and down to mardi gras, and back through southern california and up 101 back to washington. then left it for my dad to drive for several years. no repairs at all. same tires as it had when i bought it. i put the spare on north of eureka cal. when i ran over a coke bottle and the bottom of the bottle went clear throught and ended up inside the tire. it did finally quit running and to check why , i pulled the plugs and dropped a bar through the plug hole. one cylinder , the bar went all the way to the pan instead of encountering the piston. SOL
keep on keeping on
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken
