Is converting a dc scooter any different than converting an ac scooter to a 11 pole stator?

i dont think so here is how i wired mine and i did not do anything to the CDI wiring  |

I don't know what stator is in it but I have a dc setup from factory (99% sure at least). What do you need to know?

Justin , find the stator plug and see if you have one square plug an one or two bullet plugs and note the colors .

Bumping this back up as I'm finally getting around to touching this thing. I tore it down yesterday, and I found that I have a 12 pole stator. Now, is this better than an 11 pole stator? I'll check the wire colors tomorow, but I can tell you I have two hard plugs, not bullet connectors.

First of all what was the reason to want to put in a 11 pole stator? Wanting higher wattage headlight bulbs? Also what scooter is this? I've only seen the 12 pole stator on the GY-6B engine and a few non-Chinese scooters.
Also you will lose charging wattage by going from 12 to 11 poles and your wiring on the stator in the picture indicates a three phase charging system with a AC type CDI.
Lastly it's unlikely you will find a 11 pole stator that will bolt up, the bolt patterns on a 12 pole stator are nearly always different than most plus the OD of the stator itself.
Let me know what scooter you have and I can more than like tell you if it is a DC system.

The reason for wanting more power is the ability to run a efi setup without the pump drawing down the battery and having to put it on a charger once a week like some people seem to have to do. Lighting isn't much of a worry as it is already better than most scooters I have ridden. I though I read somewhere that the 12 pole didn't put out as much power as the 11 pole, hence still asking about it when I discovered I had a 12 pole. I don't know what type of cdi I have, all I can tell you is that it is about twice the size of a standard AC cdi found on most scooters. This, once again made me think that I had a DC system. Everywhere I look it says that a DC system has a larger CDI. I have a 11 pole flywheel and stator kicking around so I will check that just for kicks to see if everything measures up the same or different and I can post the findings for both just for the records. The scooter is a BKM Sauron by Vento. It is a 125 with a tall head (which I just found out after ordering all NCY stuff and seeing that it was different). I'll do you one better and post the wiring diagram from the owners manual.  |

Ok even though the diagram is hard to see as far as exact wire colors it's clear enough for me to confirm what I previously said.
In your picture of the wires you have 3 whites on the large plug and a Bl/W and Green/white on the small 2 plug.
3 whites go to R/R which is a 5 pin R/R with black as a ground and red to the battery for charging.
The two plug is blue/white = AC feed to CDI from stator
Green/white = pulse coil from stator to CDI.
The other wires on this CDI which is a 5-wire system are
Black = ground
black/yellow/ = CDI feed to coil
black/red? = engine kill wire which goes through the remote alarm also.
Again hard to read it exactly as far as the color code letters. Do you have a way to scan this diagram and email it to me? If so I could verify the colors possibly with a clearer shot. Also I would to have this diagram for the wiring diagram section I'm working on.
Now IMO the only way a 11 pole stator will charge more than a 12 pole is if the windings on the 11 pole have more winding than the 12 pole ......and the R/R (which is 7 pin) allows for more voltage output than the 5 pin R/R which I doubt?
Also can you look at the bottom of the engine and see if it is this engine a QMI153?

I'll see if I can get a better picture or scan, I quickly took that with my phone. But basically what you are saying is that I should just stick with the 12 pole stator?
