Does it make any performance or exhaust flow depending on type of gasket? Either round or flat gasket. Has anyone tried both an have any comments on which is better?

they are functionally equivalent With the flat gasket providing slightly more resistance to flex than ring. most of the exhaust pipe is too poorly made for that to matter anyway. if you want to do something that matters take a dremel and smooth out the throat of the pipe. a clean smooth transition is very important when going from large to small diameter pipe.

Chewbaca is right!
On my old GY6 150 the header inside diameter was SMALLER than the EXHAUST PORT! And, blocked by cobbled welding. A full-diameter header will do WONDERS for a choked up pipe. You can buy aftermarket headers of full-diameter but I used a cut-down header from an Onan generator.
As Chewbaca said though, a careful chamfering of the header at the flange, to ease the exhaust entering the header will also help a LOT.
