well last summer i was out working on my scooter and that neighbor that don't know when to shut up came out and was starting to get on my nerves so i had the spare motor setup checking it out for spark and how well it runs he wants to help and i just need to be left along then it hits me what to do i asks him to hold the plug wire so i can check the wiring he grabs the wire holding it to the motor valve cover and then i hit the starter button he jumps about 5 feet in the air screaming holy crap shaking his hand and arm and i fall to the ground LMAO so much so that my sides hurt do any body have a neighbor like i do

I have 1 neighbor that is annoying but no neighbors stupid enough to hold that lead while I crank the motor.

 LOL...So funny yet mean at same time...I LIKE IT! My neighbors are good...next door is a avid cyclists and my retired father bought house across street from me. So anything I need I just walk across street and say HEY!!!

And sorry but i find that to be vey reckless course of action
It may have seemed funny at the time to you but did you give any thought of what a sudden shock like that can do to a person, you could impare the heart beat and cause an arrhythmia
I surely hope you will take this to heart and not do that to any one ever again

Hank i know what the dangers are with electrical shock and i have been shock before both by vehicles and the power grid all that said if the person is dumb enough the grab it then it is all fun and games

Not everyone is mechanically smart. Sorry, gotta' agree with Hank. It was mean. I probably would've called you an appropriate name afterwards as you laughed that much and proved you did it on purpose. Better to have just said, "Sorry dude, I don't need help right now. As for my neighbours, they're all lovely folk, mostly. The ones across the street are a bit irritating sometimes, but then again she was there for me once when I needed help. One has helped me install a home-jobber rack in the garage for yard tools, plus moved a GIANT cabinet, plus tried to figure out the noise from my car, plus has many times offered help whenever I need. One calls me Evel. Cute. I would never think of doing anything to hurt any of them in any way. They're all too sweet. >'Kat  |

Speaking from personal experience that wire does have a bite to it.

A standard USB port on a computer runs at 100 milliamps, So you can imagine what damage a fully charged 12 volt DC battery jolt to your system could potentially do to your health and well being I would never knowingly subject someone to that Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank |

That's not 12 volts on the spark plug lead its more like 20k volts. It freakin hurts for certain

Sure, it can do harm, for the heart though it is unlikely that the current would reach it. There is a reason why during a "code Blue" we apply the electrodes so that the current has to travel through the chest.
Unless somebody has one hand on the spark plug wire and the other on ground, the current will normally jump back to the motor. I guess if you are bare footed and standing in water it may go through the body as well.
Either way, it is a bit unkind to make somebody get the experience. I'm willing to bet that most of the guys in my age have been zapped by the current from the coil when they were younger and less informed about the bite.

Well, it IS sorta "mean-spirited"... But I'm still chuckling... LOL! Probably not a good idea, but somewhat irresistible under the circumstances...
WAY back in the sixties, my outlaw buddies and I hung out at a drive-in "choke n' puke" where the car-hops wore bikinis... Interesting...
AND we were all into macho idiocy, and had mastered the fine art of grabbing a plug while sitting on our idling hogs, gritting our teeth and hanging on for some time. MORE interesting...
Sometimes one of the gals would trash-talk us "biker-trash" unmercifully. HMMM... Now honestly, just WHO with such a tolerance for electricity, could resist grabbing a plug and poking one of the mouthy car-hops in her bare tummy in mid-insult??? HeHeHe... Mean-spirited? Yeah, but what a hoot! Sometimes they'd do a complete back-flip, throwing food everywhere... And nobody ever griped about losing their order, since they enjoyed the show...
Amazingly, after that, the gals thought we were pretty cool, and started liking us! Duh... Go figger... A couple even learned to do it and would bend over, grab a plug on my chopper and do the same thing to another car-hop! Cheesh, they'd NEVER learn...
