ASE/L1 Master tech and automotive store manager, new to the scoot world as of last September, but learning quickly. Not new to aircooled and smaller engines. Got rid of a problem child '71 Beetle and used some of the money for a new Chinese 50cc scoot. Viper 50. Was okay with stock performance to at least get me to work on back roads for nice days. Have since put in a "100CC" (50mm piston) BBK, with a 19mm jetted carby, nice NGK plug, removed the restrictions in the factory airbox, put in a Glixal 1500 contra spring and the clutch springs that come with, a kevlar Gates belt, and still need to tune some rollers. Tried some 10 grams and that wasn't right. Quick off the line, but lost a lot of top end. Ordered a few sets and going to start mixing and matching. Already had no restrictions on the CDI to my surprise. So far, can easily get up to 40-45mph on the flat, and climbs some nasty hills at around 30mph when it needs to. Broke the factory belt and after replacing with the brand new Kevlar, popped a wheelie pulling through an intersection and lost it. Cracked the helmet box on the rear rack. Replaced that with a basket that holes my river tackle boxes, two fishing poles, a few canteens of water, and random 'go fishing' supplies. Managed to trek about 12-15 miles the other day with me, all the regular fishing stuff, and an inflatable kayak on the back with no issues. So I'm definitely hooked. I'm sure I'll ask for some help from regulars I've seen like alley, etc. When it comes time to really dig in. Great to see a good community helping each other out. Glad to join.
