Gotta go with the Wienermobile… Not that it's all that macho, but in the fifties, the original (on a PACKARD chassis no less) visited our neighborhood.
Arnold Stang, the original "Lil' Oscar" got ticked off at us kids while handing out wiener-whistles and cussed us out with language that would make a sailor blush... Considering his tirade (ESPECIALLY in 1952 or so) probably cost him his job, THAT was pretty macho... LOL!

Somewhere, I probably still have a wiener-whistle from that encounter! The wiener-whistles will probably not be a marketing tool again any time soon... Even as 8-year-olds, we sorta figgered blowing a wiener was NOT the most macho thing, no matter how neat it sounded... WE held 'em hidden in-hand covering and uncovering the air-hole and blew 'em like a "Bosun's whistle". Made the experience more nautical than naughty... LOL! Different times for sure... LOL! |

Actually, they do still hand out weiner-whistles. Mom & I each got one, the last time the Weinermobile visited near us. Here y'alles go--   I took along my weinie-beanie to meet its big brother. And my weiner-whistle. They gave me a new whistle, just 'cause. One of them also "honked" the horn while I was in front (you can see her through the windshield, waiting for Mom to finish taking the picture). In case you're curious, the horn doesn't honk, it plays "Oh I Wish..." Great fun! What I wish is that I'd known in college that this job existed, 'cause I'd have been all over trying to become a Weiner-driver! >'Kat |

Btb, it's really fun to see the Weinermobile going down the road and onto the highway--we happened by the store coming back from other errands, just as they were pulling out to leave. Mom being Mom, she followed it for an exit, just 'cause.
Ya' ain't really lived 'til you've seen a giant OM Weiner going 65mph down the interstate!
